Homarjun,

I came across the slide show promoting AID TAMU activity on your blog. As far as I remember, the Nele Project funding got rejected by the AID central team. Not sure, why AID TAMU is taking credit for that in their promotion. Correct me if I am not correct.

Thanks,
Vikas

Vikas,

You may need to elaborate on your objection and also articulate how would you like me to take action? Remove the slide? Write a disclaimer? We will do as you please.

However, in return I am going to ask you why NELE was not funded? Do you have a report on how the decision to not fund NELE was reached?

Homarjun,

I thought you were aware why AID EB turned down the project. They quoted the following as the reason for rejection as forwarded to me on 6/21/2007 by Sai K Yadlapalli who was the then President of AID TAMU

"I will really appreciate if you can forward this message to all concerned volunteers at TAMU. AID EB has objection over this project mainly because philosophy of the NGO does not align with pluarlistic philosophy of AID.

AID's Non-Discrimination statement states "AID does not fund organizations for religious purposes, and seeks to work with organizations committed to non-sectarian, non-violent and humanitarian principles." We also state the same in our filing with IRS for 501c3 status. Clearly, as you see, from AID stand we can not fund this project and unfortunately we have to withdraw the support.

Please discuss it at your chapter and try to take an informed decision over the project. If required, EB can have a conference call with the chapter to resolve any issues and concern over this.

Thanks and regards
Rashim

subsequently you too added against the AID EB stand in the form of reply email as follows

"In the para below, Hindu Seva Pratishthan is quoted as a body conducting the examination, which does not necessarily mean that it is part of VHP. That will be a good line of argument. But we first have to verify Hindu Seva Pratishthan’s connections with VHP.

Homarjun"

Subsequently I believe there was conference call held with AID central team during which AID central team members were not willing to change their stand.

Do I need the slide removed or write a disclaimer - To answer that question, I dont intend to prevent publicising Nele project as it is one of the best I have ever come across. Nele has been very successfull in guiding several under-privileged kids on road side to lead a respectful life. However, AID should not use the name of Nele to win over new volunteers to garner more funds and utilise as per whims of few office bearers in the EB who talk the language of so called "secularist".

I think, AID TAMU should apologize on its website for using incorrect publicity material and misguiding students and other donors. Thereafter, it should remove that particular slide from its publicity video.

Hope I have answered all your questions.

Thanks,

Vikas

Once again AID at its best, Rejecting the project funding though approved by the chapter. Nothing new. If the group in question was called out as "M... Seva Prathistan" or "I..... Seva Prathistan".. it would have been approved without any hesitation. Secularism at its best..

Vikas, no point in raising objections or questions. You are wasting your time. If you get a chance visit http://communismwatch.blogspot.com/2005/08/arise-awake-and-leave-asha-aid.html
