Soccer Mania
Soccer world cup 2006 have proved to be a boon for me. This is the year that I started playing soccer. Thanks to friends like Karambir, Abhishek and Gregory for their bearing with me and coaching me with a lot of patience.

It all started on 20th July 2006, when I returned from India. Abhishek and Karambir were both really into soccer playing with full enthusiasm. I also joined and found myself totally unfit for this sport. I didnt not know the rules of the game and had never played it before. Everybody else was a good player, atleast knew the rules.

Anyways, on encouragement from all these people, I bought the gear and started learning. Abhishek and karambir were my technical gurus, who taught me how to hit the ball (Here it is important to mention that I still cant hit a hard kick, nor can I dribble). Gregory on the other hand, has been the stragetic mentor. He does not tell how to kick, but tell the game, how to play, and he is rather soft on my mistakes as compared to his treatment to others. I guess thats because I am a friend, and a novice friend.
I recall the first day, when I could not trouch a ball coming to me and it went from under my feet. Another occasion, on my first day, I could not pass the ball on to the next player and the smart opponent easily converted it into a goal. I play defender (thats the easiest for me I guess), and I remember, on the first day, I was outrun by each and every player.
Due to constant mentoring and coaching, today, I am not ashamed of my game, if not proud. I have now developed the interest, and hope to enjoy it as much as I can.
Also, honestly, weight loss has been a great motivation in continuing this sport.
